A bespoke garment is made for one person, from a pattern drafted for their body. The journey has a clear shape: a consultation, cloth and design choices, measurements, a series of fittings as the garment is built, and a final reveal. For a bespoke suit this typically takes 6–8 weeks; for a wedding, we recommend starting 8–12 weeks before the date. Every step can take place at our atelier in Oud Metha or, through The Moving Tailor, at your home, office or hotel anywhere in Dubai.
We begin by listening. What is the garment for: daily business, a wedding, a black-tie event, travel? How do you like a suit to feel, and what has never quite worked for you before? We look at your existing wardrobe and your preferences for cut and detail, so every later decision is made with the finished garment, and your life, in mind.
You choose from fabric books of cloths from Italian and British mills, handling each one rather than judging it on a screen. We explain how weight, weave and fibre affect drape, comfort and durability, and steer you towards cloths that suit Dubai, where a suit moves between outdoor heat and air-conditioned interiors. Linings, buttons and trims are chosen at the same time.
Your tailor takes a full set of measurements and notes your posture: shoulder line, stance and how you carry your weight. Your personal pattern is drafted from these. As the garment is built, it returns for multiple fittings, where balance, proportions, sleeve length and trouser break are refined on your body. Bring the shoes you plan to wear with it.
Between fittings, your garment is cut from your own pattern and constructed with hand-finished details. Each fitting informs the next stage of work, which is why a bespoke suit fits the way it does: it is adjusted to you, not to a standard size.
At the final fitting, every detail is checked: how the jacket sits when you move, sleeve and trouser lengths, and the finish of buttonholes and pressing. For an event, we recommend collecting your garment with time to spare, wearing it once at home, and enjoying the day itself without a tailor in your diary.
Hang your suit on a shaped hanger and let it rest between wears. Dry clean only a few times a year, as frequent cleaning can damage natural fibres; for minor marks, brush or gently blot with a soft cloth. If anything needs adjusting after you have worn it, our alterations service can refine the fit.
